FAQ

FAQ

Are lab created diamonds real diamonds?

Yes, lab created diamonds are chemically and physically identical to natural diamonds: both are 100% carbon, both have the same hardness, brilliance and fire, and both are 'forever'. The only thing that changes is origin.

Created diamonds are also known as lab-grown diamonds, man-made or synthetic diamonds.

Do lab created diamonds look different?

No, they look exactly the same as natural diamonds because apart from the origin they ARE the same. It is only possible to tell the difference by using highly sophisticated lab equipment.

If the lab created stones are identical to mined diamonds, how is it possible to detect the created ones?

Experts can analyze the diamonds with highly sophisticated lab equipment. By detecting traces of the growth process and structural features it is possible to identify the origin of a diamond.

Will my created diamonds change over time?

No, created diamonds are of the same quality as mined diamonds. They are the hardest gemstones in the world and do not change their color over time. Nevertheless, it is essential to take good care of all of your jewelry pieces.

How are diamonds created?

There are two patented processes that replicate the growth procedure of diamonds: Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT). In both cases a tiny diamond seed is nurtured with carbon atoms and grown to a rough diamond, whilst subjected to extreme conditions of temperature and high pressure.

How long do Created Diamonds exist?

The first lab-created diamond was developed in 1954 by General Electric. Since then, created diamonds have been studied extensively and several patents have been developed. Created diamonds are commonly used for cutting, polishing, drilling and other industrial purposes. Gem-quality pieces are still very rare.

How do I care for my DIAMA jewelry?

DIAMA jewelry is made from 18k gold and created diamonds. It is safe to clean the jewelry with a non-abrasive jewelry cleaner or a mild soap and a soft brush. Make sure you rinse the jewelry completely and dry it with a soft cloth (don’t clean small pieces in the rim of a sink where they may slip down the drain). Please avoid exposing your jewelry to aggressive household cleaning products, especially substances containing bleach or ammonia. Always remove the jewelry before swimming in chlorinated water. Also, you should avoid any contact with perfumes and cosmetics at all times.

The safest way to store your jewelry is in its original case and pouch, in order to avoid scratches. Every piece of jewelry should be stored separately to prevent scratches, the original pouch has two pockets to separate earrings.
